The PADI Open Water course is the world's most recognised diver qualification. It will teach you the fundamentals of scuba diving, including both dive theory and practical techniques.
As a certified PADI Open Water Diver - the most widely recognized and respected rating in the world - you have the freedom to dive to a maximum depth of 18 metres independent of a PADI professional.
The PADI Open Water is divided into three sections: theory, confined water training and open water dives.
Theory - On registering you will receive your PADI Open Water 'crew pack' which includes a manual, dive tables and a training log book. The manual consists of five chapters with knowledge reviews at the end of each section which should be completed prior to the start of the course.
During your theory session, you'll watch the PADI Open Water Diver DVD and go through the knowledge reviews with your instructor to ensure you fully understand what you've learnt. Once you are happy with the theory, you'll sit a final multiple choice exam.
Confined Water Training - The confined water training consist of a series of pool sessions under the guidance of a professional PADI instructor who will take you through the basics like kit assembly to more advanced skills such as hovering and removing and replacing your kit underwater.
There is a natural progression with the skills, each one building on the last so you gain confidence at a natural pace and never feel out of your depth.
Open Water Training - When you have completed the confined water skills you are ready to move onto open water training which will take place in our own 36-acre fresh water lake.
During these exciting real open water dives, you will be asked to repeat some of the skills you learnt during your confined water training sessions as well as enjoying the wonders that await you below the surface! You'll see sunken wrecks and an abundance of fish life as you explore the underwater realm!
The Vobster Difference
Taking your PADI Open Water course at Vobster Quay is a great way to start your diving career.
As a full-time professional diving operation with years of experience behind us, we've put together an unbeatable range of packages with no hidden costs - guaranteed!
Stay dry and toasty warm!
Wanna stay warm and toasty on a dive? Then dive dry! Unlike a wetsuit, a dry suit seals you off from the outside water so you stay totally dry throughout your dive.
For divers wanting to make the most of the many world-class dive sites that the UK coastline has to offer, a drysuit is a must. If you'd prefer to undertake your training in the warmth of a drysuit then why not combine it with a PADI Drysuit Specialty course? This fabulous course will give you the skills and knowledge to safely and competently dive in a drysuit. For the ultimate in diving comfort, nothing even comes close to a drysuit.

TRAINING FOR JUST
For the ultimate in convenience, we offer a PAY AS YOU GO option that lets you spread the cost of your training by breaking it down into a series of bite-sized chunks to suit your schedule and pocket.
We understand that in these days of austerity, many people's budgets are stretched to breaking point. To make life easier, we've introduced our new PAYG payment option that allows you to pay for your course on a 'per day' basis. You can spread the course out over the period of time that best suits you - whether it's one day a week or one day a month, it's up to you. All you have to do is book yourself into a training slot and pay for that day and you're done - it really is that simple.
Training for your PADI Open Water certification via PAYG costs just £120.00 per day with the course requiring a minimum of FOUR DAYS for completion. Note that the PAYG option is not available with the combined Open Water + Drysuit specialty course.
To book yourself onto our next PADI Open Water course, call our training department on 01373 814666 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
PADI Open Water - Referral
Tempted by the PADI Open Water Dive course but would rather learn in the warm waters of a tropical paradise? If so, then the PADI Open Water Referral course is for you!
The beauty of a referral course is that it gets all the time-intensive introductory stuff - ie. theory lessons and practical pool sessions - out of the way before you go away on holiday, leaving you more time to soak up the sun and get some real diving in!
Once you've completed the first part of the referral here in the UK, we'll sign you off for that section of the course leaving you to finish off the 'open water' section (ie. the 'real' dives in the sea!) in the tropical location of your choice! PADI certifications are accepted throughout the world so you're sure to find a dive centre happy to finish off your Open Water course!
The PADI Open Water Referral course costs just £299.00 and includes all equipment, diving, materials and certification.
