FESTIVE DIVE SAFETY
DIVING IN A SANTA SUIT
We have our suspicions that Santa Claus isn't a diver - if he was, he would have made his suit far more suited to submersion. To help you prepare for Vobster Santas, here's our handy guide to making your Santa suit 'dive ready'...
|
-
CUT A DUMP VALVE HOLE
If you're diving in a drysuit under your Santa outfit then we strongly recommend that you cut a hole in the arm of your Santa suit to allow your drysuit dump valve to function. This is best done BEFORE you arrive - no one wants to put a hole in their drysuit (or arm) due to a hasty slip of the scissors!
-
KEEP YOUR HAT ON!
One of the biggest challenges faced by any aquatic Santa Claus is that of preventing your Santa hat from floating off your head underwater. To stop this from happening, we recommend you either attach a length of bungee cord or, for a less refined solution, simply staple your Santa hat to your dive hood.
-
BEARD MANAGEMENT
No one wants a mouth full of beard underwater, especially in the event of a gas sharing situation. Safety at all times, folks - even Santa Claus has to breathe so make sure your fluffy beard doesn't obstruct your regulator 2nd stage or rebreather mouthpiece!

DISPOSING OF YOUR SUIT
Santa suit a bit worse for wear post dive? Please bring along a bin-liner and bag up the remains of your soggy Santa suit for disposal at home. Please do not dispose of your suit in the onsite bins at Vobster Quay.
-
REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN!
Vobster Santas is all about having fun! Don't get stressed if your beard won't stay on or your pantaloons make your bum look big. We'll all look utterly ridiculous so enjoy the moment!
