We love music here at Vobster Quay but sadly not everyone enjoys listening to your favourite tunes as you glide across the lake. In the interests of all visitors, we ask that all paddle sports members take a few moments to read this important update to our site guidelines.
Summer is here and that means long, warm sunny days with time to enjoy the beautiful paddle sports opportunities here at Vobster Quay. July may have been somewhat soggy but we're looking forward to sun-soaked evenings ahead.
Inevitably the Summer months also mean far more paddle sports enthusiasts will be wanting to join us on site. We've introduced some new guidelines specifically for paddle sport members designed to ensure that things run smoothly for all members and everyone enjoys the best possible experience. Please take a few minutes to read the information below to understand how these changes affect you.
We hope you have a wonderful Summer and we look forward to welcoming you back to Vobster Quay very soon. Happy paddling!
POLITE NOTICE #1
MUSIC WHILST YOU PADDLE
We get it. Many of you enjoy taking your tunes out onto the lake so that you can enjoy your favourite music whilst you paddle. Unfortunately the terms of our lease do not allow this so we politely ask that you leave your personal speakers at home.
If you really must listen to music whilst you paddle, personal ear buds are fine. All we ask is that you don't play your music at such a level that you would be unable to hear any safety recall signal from the quayside. So maybe give the thrash metal a miss and consider a soothing ambient chill mix. It's good for the chakras.
POLITE NOTICE #2
NEW 'QUIET ZONE' INTRODUCED
In order to 'keep the peace' (so to speak), we've introduced a new 'quiet zone' to the lake which we ask our visitors to respect whilst on the water. This new zone will allow visitors who prefer peace and quiet to escape unneccessary noise.
Most of this new zone is outside our usual paddle sports area but there is some overlap which we ask you to be aware of whenever you're out on the lake. Whilst we all enjoy a natter, please try to stay outside this 'quiet zone' if you do want to make any noise. We recommend paddle sports visitors use the north east corner of the lake to catch up on the latest gossip.
You can view the location of this new quiet zone on our updated site map.
OPENING HOURS
2023 TIMETABLE MATTERS
During the Summer months, we offer paddle sports enthusiasts the opportunity to get their paddle fix on four evenings per week - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and, of course, Friday between 16:00 - 20:00.
We encourage paddle sports members to make the most of these evenings as they won't be available for long. From Monday 2nd October, our paddle sports opening hours will switch to just one evening per week with the 2023 paddle sports season coming to an end at the end of October.
Please note that our latest opening hours with timetables for the months ahead can be viewed online now.
