IMPORTANT SUMMER SWIM UPDATE
MANAGING THE BUSY SUMMER SWIM SEASON
We love Summer! Long days of warm sunshine and cool drinks by the quayside but inevitably the Summer also brings some neccessary changes to our procedures here at Vobster Quay. Please read on to ensure you're clued up on how these changes affect you.
Summer is just around the corner and that means long, warm sunny days with lots of great opportunities to enjoy the beautiful swimming here at Vobster Quay!

Inevitably the Summer months also mean far more swimmers will be wanting to join us on site so inevitably that means we need to change how we do some things in order to ensure that all our visitors enjoy the best possibly experience. To ensure that things run smoothly and everyone gets to enjoy the awesome Summer swimming on offer, we ask that you take a few minutes to read the essential information detailed below.

We hope you have a wonderful Summer and we look forward to welcoming you back to Vobster Quay very soon. Happy swimming!
POLITE NOTICE #1
PLEASE BOOK IN ADVANCE
  • Our popular sessions fill up fast over Summer so you must book your session in advance of leaving home, as sessions could already be full. Booking is quick and easy via our booking portal.
  • We do have a limited capacity for each session, and if you are not booked for a full session you will be 'politely' turned away and asked to book for another day/time.
  • Please do not ask us to let you in 'just this one time'. It isn't just you - we hear this many times a day so you won't be the first or the last to ask this.
  • To help us manage numbers, please stay within your timed swim slot. You may check in for your swim 15 mins before the start of the next session.
Swimming at weekends?
If you book onto a 11:00 - 13:00 swim session on a Saturday or Sunday, please note that the lake closes for swimming between 13:00 - 15:00 - no swimming is allowed during this break in the swim schedule.

We recommend that you arrive on time for your booked session as you will not be able to continue swimming after 13:00. We cannot make exceptions no matter how genuine your reason is for arriving late.
POLITE NOTICE #2
CHANGES TO CAR PARKING
  • Please expect to park in the TOP car park for all sessions over summer! The sign at the top of the hill will now be most commonly directing swimmer's cars to the top car park all day long.
  • With the numbers coming in over the summer, the number of people now walking on the ramp has increased. We need to make it a much safer environment for all pedestrians by reducing the number of cars using the ramp.
  • At peak times, you may encounter a parking attendant in the top car park who will be there to provide guidance on parking. Their role will be to assist everyone and stop parked cars from blocking exits - please follow their directions.
POLITE NOTICE #3
PLANNING TO BRING A GUEST?
  • Once you have sent your guest the hyperlink to invite them to join you for a swim, please check that your guest has completed their registration and links before leaving home!
  • You will receive an email confirming their completion, so please nag them in advance to do this. Completion on the day in the shop is time consuming, causes unneccessary waiting for others behind you in the shop queue and eats into your session time!
  • This can also be checked on the booking portal - the guest link changes from 'Pending' to 'Completed'. Please do not bring 'Pending' Guests.
  • Please also ensure that your guest has a tow float or cap for the session - both items are available to purchase in the Vobster Quay shop.
  • Need more information on how it all works? Please refer to our helpful guide to inviting a guest to swim with you.
Unable to book a guest?
Please note that once a given session is 90% full, the 'Add Guest' function will no longer be available. The remaining spaces will be available to swim members only - not their guests.
POLITE NOTICE #4
PLEASE LABEL YOUR KIT
  • Please label your swim kit! We are starting to experience a high level of lost property here at the end of every session.
  • The lost property does go into a cupboard for storage, but it is often very difficult to identify as all suits are black!
  • Please clearly write your name and phone number inside your wetsuits to make identification easier. A good Sharpie marker pen works well for this.
  • Before you leave site, do a last check that all your kit is accounted for and safely packed away in your bag with nothing left behind.
POLITE NOTICE #5
SPECTATORS, CHILDREN & DOGS
  • Please do not use the 'add guest' button on the portal for spectators - spectators should not be booked in as a guest!
  • Please ask your spectator to pre-register themselves via our online booking portal as a 'Visitor/Spectator' in advance of arrival. This ensures that we know who they are and that they accept our terms & conditions of entry.
  • Please ensure that they have completed this registration process before arrival. Failing to do so creates unneccessary delays and inconvenience for others waiting to check in.
  • Once they arrive, we can then quickly and painlessly check them in with a 'no fee' orange band for the session. They will need to return this band before leaving site.
Children and dogs
  • We LOVE dogs as much as you do but please leave them at home! You may see the odd dog trotting around site - these dogs belong to the site owners.
  • For safety reasons, children under 10 are not allowed on site at Vobster Quay. Children under 16 must be supervised at all times.
