BSAC courses
run in association with

Vobster Quay

The BSAC has been training people to dive since the early fifties. During this time their diver training programmes have been regularly updated and improved, to keep pace with developments in equipment and diving knowledge. The programmes are designed to build confidence and self-reliance, whilst keeping safety uppermost.

IMPORTANT - Please note that training beyond BSAC Ocean Diver requires you to hold full diving membership of the BSAC.

BSAC Ocean Diver
£POA Two weekends
This course provides you with the essential knowledge and skills needed to start open water diving. Learning to dive is all about learning to use your equipment properly and safely. The course starts with practice in a swimming pool or in sheltered water and continues to include four or five open water training dives (requiring a minimum of 120 minutes underwater) where open water skills and techniques are further developed and experience gained. The course material includes the BSAC Diving Manual and Student Workbook for self-study and reference.
BSAC Sports Diver
£POA Two weekends
In Sports Diver training, the emphasis is on further building a sound foundation of open water diving and rescue skills and experience. As a Sport Diver, you'll be able to dive to a depth which is initially limited to 20m, but which can subsequently be extended progressively, under the supervision of a BSAC instructor to a maximum depth of 35m. You'll also be trained how to plan and conduct dives requiring mandatory decompression stops, rescue a casualty and provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as well as generally improving your skills and confidence in the water.
BSAC Dive Leader
£POA Two weekends
Dive Leader training concentrates on the responsibilities and safety aspects of leading other divers on an open water dive. Practical lessons in rescue management and rescue skills will give you the confidence and ability to deal with those unforeseen emergencies. Leading a dive will develop your enjoyment, confidence and experience as a diver.
BSAC Advanced Diver
£POA Two weekends
The Advanced Diver course further develops your knowledge and skills. You will gain experience in planning and organising dives at different sites and under different circumstances. Additional experience will be gained in using small boats, chartwork. navigation and many other related skills. The BSAC consider this grade as being a fully trained diver.
BSAC Nitrox + Advanced Nitrox
£POA One weekend (both)
Vobster Quay can offer both the basic BSAC Nitrox and BSAC Advanced Nitrox courses onsite. The BSAC Basic Nitrox course provides you with the knowledge and skills required to safely utilise both 32% and 36% nitrox mixes to extend your no decompression limits. For the more ambitious, we offer the BSAC Advanced Nitrox course which will take your knowledge of Nitrox to the next level to include gas switching and the use of 50% nitrox for decompression.
