Can anyone learn to dive?
A. You'd better believe it!
|
 |
You don't need to be superfit or superhuman to learn to dive - just
about anyone who's in good health and reasonably fit can learn.
Providing you're over the age of ten, can swim and don't suffer from or
have a history of any disorder that may cause complications underwater,
you're sure to be accepted onto one of our many diving courses. If in
doubt, consult your doctor.
 |
| |
How long does it take to learn?
A. Faster than you think!
|
 |
Entry-level courses typically take place over two full weekends. The
first weekend is spent learning the essential skills and techniques
you'll need to become a scuba diver in the safety and comfort of a
confined water environment. Each and every skill is demonstrated slowly
and clearly by your instructor, allowing you to master essential diving
skills and techniques at your own pace.

Once
you've mastered these basic skills, you'll take the plunge into our own
36-acre lake to discover the wonders of diving for yourself!
Accompanied by your instructor and fully-trained divemasters there to
ensure your safety and enjoyment at all times, you'll practice your new
skills in a real open water diving environment.

Of
course there's more to diving than simply getting wet! To further
prepare you for the diving adventures that await you, most courses
require home study backed up by a series of theory review sessions with
your instructor. These ensure that you've taken onboard essential
principles. After successfully completing a simple exam, you'll be a
certified diver qualified to dive anywhere in the world.
 |
| |
Is learning to dive difficult?
A. If we can do it, anyone can!
|
 |
Far from it - learning to dive is one of the easiest and most fun
things you can do! You don't need to be super fit or super intelligent
to learn to scuba dive - anyone who can swim and has a love of being in
the water can take up diving. The theory isn't rocket science either -
most of it is common sense stuff that you probably know already and
even the new stuff is pretty straightforward...

If
you do struggle with any aspect of the course - be it theory or a skill
you just can't get the hang of - your instructor and our team of
skilled Divemasters will be there every step of the way to help you
through it. We all had to start somewhere - none of our instructing
staff ever loses sight of that simple little fact - so our patience and
understanding is guarrantteed!
 |
| |
Which course is best for me?
A. We've got a course to suit you!
|
 |
Which course and/or training organisation that best suits you depends entirely upon the type of diving you want to do...

If
you're just getting started in diving or you're interested in
recreational diving only, we'd recommend you take a look at the range
of courses available from
PADI and
BSAC.
Which organisation you train with is up to you - both will teach you to
dive in a safe and fun way. Of course, if you'd like to discuss your
requirements with one of our instructors, call us on
01373 814666 or
email us...

For the more experienced diver, we offer a range of technical diving
courses designed to push your diving skills and experience to the
limits. If technical diving interests you, check out the
IANTD
courses we offer. Once again, contact us if you'd prefer to discuss
your specific requirements with a member of our training staff...

Where can I dive once certified?
A. Anywhere that suits your fancy!
|
 |
Where *can't* you dive?! - that's more the question! With one of our
certifications under your belt, the world is your diving oyster. All
our certifications are recognised throughout the world so you'll never
be too far from a Dive Centre or Resort that will be happy to take you
diving. From the colourful reefs of the Maldives to the sunken wrecks
and tropical fish in the Egyptian Red Sea, there's a world of diving
adventures just waiting to be discovered!

Of
course you don't have to jump on a jumbo jet to experience fantastic
diving - you can experience it right here in the UK at Vobster Quay!
With 36-acres of fresh water diving, Vobster Quay offers a myriad of
underwater attractions to explore at your leisure.
 |
| |
Should I learn on holiday?
A. Don't like cold water? Who can blame you!
|
 |
We're well aware that diving in the UK isn't everyone's idea of 'fun' -
for most of the year, the water temperature isn't exactly tropical and
the visibility is far from the 30m+ you're likely to get in the
Maldives. If you only ever intend to dive in the warm tropical waters
of some far flung destination, you might be tempted to learn to dive
abroad. Seem like a good idea? Well, not quite...

Whilst
learning to dive abroad might sound like an attractive proposition, do
you really want to spend the first week of your holiday stuck in a
class room with your head buried in a diving manual? Certainly not.
This, then, is where a
referall course
comes in. The beauty of this course is that it gets all the
time-intensive introductory stuff - ie. theory lessons and practical
pool sessions - out of the way before you go away on holiday, leaving
you more time to soak up the sun and get some real diving in!

Once
you've completed the first part of the referall here in the UK, we'll
sign you off for that section of the course leaving you to finish off
the 'open water' section (ie. the 'real' dives in the sea!) in the
tropical location of your choice! Referrals are the perfect option for
holiday makers who want to learn to dive abroad but don't want to spend
valuable time stuck in a stuffy classroom!
